Professor Enrico Gherlone has been confirmed by the Board of Directors at the helm of Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. The Professor, in his third term, has served as Rector since 8th November 2018, with the position then renewed in November 2021.

Professor Enrico Gherlone states:

I am grateful to President Paolo Rotelli and the Board of Directors of Vita-Salute San Raffaele University who have honoured me with their renewed trust by confirming me, for the third time, in the prestigious role of Rector of this University. During the years of my rectorate, UniSR has experienced an important development, both in terms of receptive capacity and educational offerings, with strong investments that have ensured adequate structural conditions to support its continued growth. It is difficult to summarize in the space of a thank you all that has been accomplished in these years.

For more than 30 years at San Raffaele, Enrico Gherlone joined in 1993 and in 2003 he was called as full professor to the Chair of Dental Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of UniSR, where he is still Full Professor of Odontostomatological Diseases.

Numerous roles held in dentistry, healthcare, medicine, and institutional positions: on 14th May 2024, he was appointed by Minister Anna Maria Bernini as a Member of the National Observatory of Specialty Health Training of the Ministry of University and Research, coordinator of surgical and non-medical specialties.

He is now continuing his commitment to leading the University, strengthening its excellence at national and global level, in order to achieve its ambitious future goals.

My third term will see all my commitment in consolidating the results already achieved by the University and their integration into the UN Agenda 2030, so that Vita-Salute San Raffaele University can face with enthusiasm all the challenges of the future. Starting from the global one of sustainable development, increasingly oriented towards health and common well-being.
