More of us in the world: UniSR opens a representative office in Brussels

In April 2025, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University formalized its presence in Brussels thanks to an agreement with the Lombardy Region. The University now has a workstation at Casa Lombardia, the long-standing headquarters of the Region in the Belgian capital, which hosts various Lombard organizations from the fields of research and innovation.

The decision to formalize UniSR’s presence in the European capital represents a highly significant strategic investment and demonstrates the University’s intention to strengthen its international standing, reaffirming its central role in high-level education and research, in close proximity to the European institutions.

A bridge to European institutions and networks

UniSR’s presence in Brussels will provide the University with privileged access to European decision-making processes. It will allow the University to take part more directly in policy and advocacy initiatives, fostering ongoing dialogue with officials from European institutions and with representatives of the public and private sectors from across the continent. In this perspective, UniSR will be able to contribute actively to the development of policies and strategies in crucial areas such as higher education, healthcare, research, and innovation.

This presence will also help strengthen the University’s international visibility, expanding its participation in strategic networks and associations of which UniSR is already a member together with the San Raffaele Hospital, such as the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA), and encouraging the creation of new collaborations at regional, national, and European levels.

Management of the Brussels office is currently entrusted to the EU Research Strategy and Policy Office, within the Research Development Directorate, which has long been active in the European landscape with the goal of promoting synergies between the San Raffaele community and the various European institutions.
