Rossella Tomaiuolo is Associate Professor at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and Chair of the University Quality Assurance Board.

She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery (1998), her specialist qualification in Clinical Biochemistry (2002), and her PhD in Biotechnological Sciences (2006) from the University of Naples Federico II. In 2020, she completed the Executive Master in Healthcare and Social Care Management at SDA Bocconi School of Management.

Since the 2003–2004 academic year, she has taught Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology in university degree programmes in the medical field.

Her research interests include the development and application of advanced diagnostic technologies to investigate diseases and conditions with a major societal impact, including inherited genetic disorders, infertility, and COVID-19.

Her technology transfer experience began in 2015 as the originator and coordinator of the One4Two project, which received the Women’s Entrepreneurship Award at the Italian National Innovation Award competition (2015) and won the European EIT-Innostar competition (2016). In 2017, the project won the Merck for Health Hackathon and participated in the X-Innovation Summit in Dubai. In 2018, it received the European Commission’s Seal of Excellence and a Horizon 2020 grant under the EIC-SMEInst-2018-2020 programme.

She has been an invited speaker and has presented contributions at conferences on Laboratory Medicine, Technology Transfer, and Healthcare Management. She has authored over 100 scientific publications indexed in international scientific literature databases.
